15 July - Back In Culebra Departed Vieques early this morning hoping to make St. Croix but the winds were not as forecast so we took a left and sailed to Culebra and plan on making St Thomas on Thursday. St. Croix will be saved for next time.
18 July - Surprise, St. Croix! While updating weather for our crossing to St. Thomas Thursday we realized the conditions were right for a St. Croix crossing last night. So today we are napping and then enjoying the island 50 nautical miles to the south.
Laura and I, along with our puppy Abby Jean, are headed off for a three to four month cruise down island to Grenada, where we have a mooring at Hog Island; hoping to miss out on the hurricane season this year. Cruising is is the reason we moved to the Caribbean two years ago and it is a pleasure to share our experiences with you.
Our vessel's name 'Surely Sea' is a tribute to Laura's mother, Shirley Catherine who, though she passed many years ago, was one of the greatest guiding influences in Laura's life. It was an easy decision to pay our respects to Shirley in this small way. They both are strong, reliable, and beautiful ladies and they both are quick to bring a smile to your face.
